School Meals

School meals provided by ISS Catering

Horsenden Primary School's school meals are provided by ISS Catering. Meals are cooked and served daily on site by the ISS kitchen staff. We have meat-free Mondays, and halal options are served on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The following is also available daily: fresh fruit, a portion of dairy, salad and freshly baked wholemeal bread.

There is no need to pre-book your meal - your child can simply go to the counter and choose the meal they would like.

Autumn 2 to end of Spring Menu

  • There are three weekly menus on rotation - Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3.
  • See the menus  below which lists the 'week commencing' dates the menus will be served.

Universal Infant Free School Meals (Reception, Year 1 & Year 2)

All pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals.
This government initiative supports:

  • Healthy eating habits

  • Child development

  • Improved academic performance

Please note: Free meals are not provided for Nursery children although they are welcome to enjoy a meal if you register  your child with ISS Catering and make payment in advance. Nursery meals cost £2.45 each.

Free School Meals for Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6)

The Mayor of London has extended grant funding for the 2025/26 school year to provide free school meals for ALL Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 3 to 6) in state schools who do not already qualify for government-funded, income-related free school meals.

This means that all London-based children in Year 3 to 6 can enjoy a free school meal this academic year. This could save you hundreds of pounds.

As this is a temporary initiative, please read the 'Meal Costs' information below which  explains what will happen once the funding ends.

Meal Costs (when funding ends for Years 3-6 children)

  • Years 3, 4, 5 and 6:
School meals must be paid for in advance.

    • Cost: £2.90 per meal or £14.50 per week.

    • We operate a one-day rule — you cannot owe more than £2.90 (the cost of one meal).

    • If your balance exceeds this limit, your child will not receive a school meal and you must provide a packed lunch instead.
