Junior Travel Ambassadors
Our JTAs Are Making a Difference!
This year, our Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) have been fantastic in promoting active travel throughout the school community. They’ve helped organise a range of exciting events, including:
- Walk to School Week, where pupils recorded their active journeys using Terri the Tiger bookmarks
- A creative art competition themed around sustainable travel
- A special coffee morning presentation for parents, sharing the benefits of active travel and how families can get involved
Their enthusiasm and leadership have helped raise awareness and encourage more pupils and families to choose active, healthy ways of getting to school. Well done, JTAs!

Active Travel Policy – Ealing School Streets Scheme at Horsenden Primary School
At Horsenden Primary School, we are committed to making the journey to and from school safer, healthier, and more environmentally friendly for our pupils and their families. As part of this commitment, we are proud to be participating in the Ealing School Streets scheme.
Through this initiative, Elton Avenue is restricted to registered vehicles only during our school’s busiest times:
Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 9:15am and from 2:45pm to 3:30pm, during term time.
Any unregistered vehicle driving on Elton Avenue during these times will receive a penalty fine. These restrictions help reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and create a safer space for children walking, cycling, or scooting to and from school.
We strongly encourage all Horsenden families to choose active travel whenever possible. Walking, cycling, and scooting support children’s physical and mental wellbeing, reduce pollution, and help create a calmer, safer environment around our school gates.
Thank you for supporting our Active Travel Policy and working with us to make Horsenden Primary a greener and safer place for everyone.
